An International society offering regional support solutions

With our regional symposia we will bring the best elements of ISCoS research and education to parts of the world where SCI services and human resources have been identified as areas that require strengthening and support. The ISCoS community endeavours to share knowledge and research to offer the best possible SCI Care, to offer a higher quality of life after a spinal cord injury.

Our second regional symposium will cover East Asia, joining forces with Korean Spinal Cord Society (KoSCoS). By working collaboratively with KoSCoS we ensure that the programme and content are relevant to the identified needs of the region.

Message from the ISCoS President

I am delighted to invite you to the 2nd Regional Symposium of the International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS) that will be taking place on Thursday 27 – Friday 28 June 2024 in the great city of Seoul, Capital of South Korea and one of the major countries of East ASIA. The meeting is kindly supported by the Korean Spinal Cord Society (KoSCoS), an affiliated society of ISCoS.

As you know, spinal cord damage due to injury or disease is a life changing condition that requires the input of large number of professionals and meetings like these enable professionals from all disciplines to get together to present their latest scientific work, network with colleagues, debate and discuss the latest development as well as interact with consumers’ representative. It will be a meeting for all those whose passion is to advance the care and treatment of spinal injured persons.

While we value the get together with colleagues from around the world at the Annual Scientific Meetings of ISCoS, the great success of the first regional symposium in Latin America and the Caribbean has made us certain that organising regional symposia is of great benefit to those practitioners from a defined geographical area with a lot in common in every respect, is of great value to the clinicians of that region.

As the president of ISCoS, I hope many professionals from all disciplines involved in the care of spinal cord damage persons will be able to attend this regional symposium which I am sure will be a highly engaging meeting.

With my Best Wishes

Dr Ali Jamous, MD, MSc (Oxon), FISCoS President

ISCoS 2nd Symposium 2024

local Organising Committee

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2nd Regional Symposium of the International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS), which will be held on Thursday 27 – Friday 28 June 2024, in Seoul,  Korea, one of the major cities in East Asia, supported by the Korean Spinal Cord Society (KoSCoS), an affiliated society of ISCoS.

The 2nd regional symposium will be an in-person event following the successful 1st regional symposium, which was held virtually during the pandemic, in Latin American and the Caribbean. Well known international speakers in spinal cord medicine and practice will give lectures, share knowledge, and communicate with audience in person.

East Asia is fast growing in economy and rapidly changing in culture including chronologic distribution of population which affects the epidemiology of spinal cord damage due to injury or disease with the high incidence of degenerative change of the spine.

The purpose of the regional symposium is to promote and strengthen the comprehensive care of the people with spinal cord damage due to injury or disease by education and learning opportunity to the clinicians and practitioners, reflecting the geographical background of the region.

I am sure this symposium will be a pivotal moment in strengthening the standard of comprehensive care of people with spinal cord injury and disease in East Asia.

With my best wishes,

Professor Moon Suk Bang, MD, PhD
Chair of Organising Committee
